Las Minas Puerto Flamenco

The reason that lies under the creation of Las Minas Puerto Flamenco is the evident relationship between music and ports. Traditionally, ports have been home and cradle of artists of all kinds. Trips to the Americas were in the past made by boat and products from the Far East arrived in boats along the Silk Road. Ports were the central axis of commerce, and, why not saying it, day and night partying. Some people say, probably being absolutely honest, that the origins of the traditional Peruvian cajón (box-shaped percussion instrument) dates back to the sailors playing on fish boxes, probably being very close to the bottles and barrels of rum. The round-trip songs start from Iberian ports towards America and return from American to Spanish ports. The guajira, despite having its origins in the fields, parts from the Canary Islands towards the Caribbean. The havaneras, of Cuban origin, arrive in Spain passing through the ports. Las Minas Puerto Flamenco is a unique one hundred-minute show in which artists display, each in their personal style, the talent that has made some of them worthy of being winners of the legendary Cante de las Minas international award. There will be eleven artists on stage, being each one figure in their specialty. It is not a typical flamenco show, it is a singular non-stop show in which the participants interact with each other. Thus, the singing is accompanied by guitars that play alongside the flamenco dancing and the percussion, the flute, the saxophone and the Peruvian cajón. The best of the Festival is that it offers a show full of sensitivity and image; a journey through the history of Flamenco that has passed through the ports of Spain and has mixed with the music of the ports. Mineras (songs sung by the miners), cartageneras (traditional Colombian songs), coplas, soleás, malagueñas, alegrías, fandangos, cañas and bulerías (all of them traditional songs from different corners of southern Spain) are the main components of this flamenco roll. It is, in short, the essence of Flamenco. This event is co-produced with Las Minas Flamenco Tour. The Festival holds the Gold Medal of Fine Arts and has the great honour of being the only Flamenco event with the Spain Brand seal, thanks to the Las Minas Flamenco Tour. August 4th, 2018 in Port Adriano at 10:00 pm (Doors open at 7:00 pm).
