The Big Band der Bundeswehr

Summer Highlight: One of the most prestigious German Bands will come to Mallorca. The Big Band of the German Armed Forces will play in Port Adriano.

The success story of the Big Band of the German Armed Forces began in 1971. As a passionate lover of music, Chancellor Helmut Schmidt wished besides the traditional army, navy and air force orchestras a modern sound for a modern Army. The search for the best instrumentalists began and an unusual musical success story began.
Today, the Big Band counts as one of the most outstanding show and entertainment orchestras. All instrumentalists are handpicked first-class soloists and graduates from some of the most prestigious modern music academies. Audiences will not only enjoy swing, rock and pop music in the typical big band sound. They will also be taken on a journey through a realm of show and entertainment and immersed into a world of surprises and emotions, special effects, and tangible enthusiasm that will allow to escape the stress of everyday life.
Besides Germany, the incredible swing ensemble is also very popular in other countries: New York, Moscow, Oslo, Seoul, Madrid, Cape Town, Rome and Rio de Janeiro, just to mention a few. Several presidents of many countries and even the Pope have already tapped their feet or snapped their fingers to the rhythm of this orchestra.
During the past four decades, the Big Band has earned and maintained a reputation that is unrivalled in the German show business and is continuously striving for further development and enhancement.
