The E-Shuttle as Part of Port Adriano’s Sustainability Policy

As part of its comprehensive sustainability plan, which involves all areas of the marina, Port Adriano has taken another step towards achieving the decarbonisation goals of the nautical sector. Following the installation of marine regeneration structures (Ecostructures), the incorporation of electric vehicles into its internal fleet, and the installation of an electric charging station for boats, the latest initiative has been the conversion of a motor vessel into a zero-emission craft.

The vessel is an 8-metre aluminium catamaran platform that was originally powered by two diesel engines. These engines have now been replaced with two electric motors powered by solar panels, transforming it into a completely non-polluting boat.

The purpose of the vessel is to transport passengers between the marina’s inner and outer basins, helping to improve the flow of people throughout the facilities while also becoming an additional attraction for visitors to the harbour.

It is also used during events held at the marina.

Port Adriano’s E-Shuttle is a unique prototype, designed and built in 2014 for Ocibar, S.A., the company that manages the harbour.

This conversion has been funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
