Port Adriano, as the entity responsible for the impacts that are caused by our decisions and activities on society and the ecosystem around us, wants to contribute to sustainable development of our region and the welfare of the surrounding community through a transparent environmental performance and ethical policy.
Our privileged situation and the recent expansion and renovation of the port put us in the spotlight of the Mediterranean. Therefore, our responsibility is significant.
Since 2004 we have complied with the international certification according to ISO 9001 and 14001, which joined in 2009 Verification EMAS European certificate requiring the highest standards of environmental best practices and legislative compliance, plus provides an acknowledgment which is a commitment to continuous improvement for the benefit of the partners, users and our environment.
In the social context, our organization works on issues related to the community, promoting environmental information through lively activities aimed to raise awareness and collaborating with NGOs to help increase information and recycling of waste between port users. Moreover Port Adriano is constantly promoting training and developing the growth of administrative staff and seamanship to offer our customers, users and visitors a favorable working environment and a service that promotes excellence.
In 2017, thanks to the collaboration with the Seabin Project, consisting of the installation of a revolutionary floating bin that collects plastics from the sea, Port Adriano received an award from the Balearic Government for the best initiative in Social Corporate Responsibility.
Port Adriano agreement with Palma Aquarium Foundation
The collaboration agreement between Port Adriano and the Palma Aquarium Foundation actively promotes the conservation of the biodiversity of our seas and oceans. Three main lines of action emerge from this agreement:
1- Carrying out training and awareness-raising activities for the various interest groups, such as schoolchildren, port visitors and staff.
2- Diffusion of didactic material based on environmental education and sustainability.
3- Active maintenance of an assistance system for endangered marine species, which focuses especially on the recovery and treatment of sea turtles.
