We present our new logo

Ocibar has renewed its graphic image and now has a new logotype. The new graphic emblem combines singularity with the modern company concept that we are known for. With a simple and easily identifiable letter type, the new logo transmits a philosophy and way of doing things that is common to all of our facilities: Port Adriano (Mallorca), Ibiza Magna (Eivissa) and S’Altra Banda (Menorca).

Port Adriano receives its first large yatchs

After more than three years of construction, many of Port Adriano’s new facilities are operative. Specifically, 51 of the 82 new moorings in the dock and breakwater area are now available, thanks to the expansion of the harbour.

This summer, the new facilities received their first clients, and of the moorings for 20 metre boats have been occupied. Moreover, floating jetties have been installed temporarily, to relocate the users whose moorings are in the construction area.

By the spring of 2011, the Port envisages the completion of the new shopping area and the launch of the remaining 31 moorings, which are attached to the central dock.

Port Adriano’s new dry dock and petrol station are now operative

Port Adriano’s expansion project entailed the construction of a new dry dock, as well as a petrol station. Both of these facilities will be operative in the upcoming weeks. Thus, the only thing left is the construction of the boat workshops, which will be carried out during the winter months.

The large vessels that move into the new dock will no longer have to go anywhere to fill up with petrol, as they will have a fuel service at the moorings themselves.

The final stages of the works: the construction of the new shopping area is underway

The last phase of Port Adriano’s expansion entails the construction of the central dock and the buildings of the new shopping area, which was designed by Philippe Starck.

This work is underway on the foundations for the new buildings. The pillars and walls are now being installed, so that the area’s foundations and car park will be ready by November 2010.

The construction and fitting-out of the buildings that will house the new shop premises is planned to be finished in the late spring of 2011, thus concluding the expansion project before the summer season.

Important companies to move into Port Adriano’s shop premises

Port Adriano will soon have a 4000-metre shopping centre with 40 premises. Needless to say, this is yet another main attraction of the new harbour. Prestigious companies in the yachting, fashion, restaurant and services sectors have already reserved their locations here. Among others, these include:

Burgess (www.burgessyachts.com), one of the top international superyacht agents specialising sales, purchases and rentals; First Mallorca (www.firstmallorca.com), one of the leading real estate agencies on the island; East (www.east-hamburg.de), a well-known German restaurant firm, which will be opening an exclusive bar & lounge; Adriano Ice Cream, a new Mallorcan ice cream shop; the Dutch company Maddox (www.maddox.nl), a multi-brand clothing store that was first launched in Amsterdam; Piluca Osaba (www.pilucaosaba.com), a prestigious women’s clothing and accessories shop with locations in Puerto Portals, Palma de Mallorca and Madrid; and Cvstos (www.cvstos.com), a top quality Swiss watch brand.

New location of the Harbourmaster’s office in Port Adriano

The Port Adriano expansion also envisages a new location for the Harbourmaster’s office, in the first building of the “old” shopping area. The work to fit out the new space will also be carried out during the winter months of 2010. Thus, the Harbourmaster’s office will remain at its current location until the construction work is complete.

Philippe Starck designs an exclusive prototype streetlamp for Port Adriano

In addition to handling the design of the new shopping area, the prestigious French designer Philippe Starck has also been entrusted with the design of certain decorative pieces that will give the harbour an exclusive and unique feel. Those pieces are eye-catching distinctive features such as the bollards, the lighthouse and the streetlamps.

Thanks to Starck’s input, Port Adriano is a marina where functionality, modernity and design coexist in perfect harmony, positioning it as a benchmark harbour in the Mediterranean.

In the past few months, Starck has made several trips to Mallorca to visit the harbour and to supervise the progress of the construction work.

Port Adriano will be taking part in the upcoming celebration of the Monaco Yacht Show

For the fourth consecutive year, Port Adriano will be participating in Europe’s most important trade show for the superyacht sector. Held in Monaco between 22 and 25 September, this event offers the latest developments in boats, equipment and services for large vessels.

This year, the Port has moved its stand to the Darse Nord tent, at stall QD1, which is a highly visible spot. We encourage everyone attending the show to come and see us for complete and detailed information on our new expansion.

Moreover, on Thursday 23 September, Port Adriano will be throwing a party in the Darse Nord tent. If you are interested in attending the event, please contact us by e-mail to request an invitation: info@portadriano.com.

The first phase of the work on S’Altra Banda (“The Other Side”) is complete

The first phase of the refurbishment and improvement work on the jetties of S’Altra Banda, the Ocibar marina located on the north shore of Menorca’s Port of Maó, is now complete. This initial phase of work has increased the number of moorings in Cala Llonga – making for a total of 130 mooring points – while also equipping them with a supply of water and electricity. Moreover, new jetties have been installed at Illa del Rei and Cala Rata.

The second phase of work, which entails the improvement and adaptation of the entrances and the other jetties, is scheduled to begin in October, once the tourism season has come to a close.

New location of the Ocibar office in the Port of Maó

Ocibar has recently moved its S'Altra Banda office in Menorca to Muelle de Levante 258 in the Port of Maó, very close to its previous location. The new office, which sits in the busiest area of the port, is more functional and offers plenty of space to continue to provide our clients with top quality service.

The ‘Scorpione dei Mari’, based in Port Adriano, wins the Palma Superyacht Cup 2010

Between 23 and 26 June 2010, the city of Palma in Mallorca once again hosted its now traditional superyacht regatta, the Palma Superyacht Cup. The longest superyacht race in Europe in terms of duration, this year the event took in 20 superyachts and over 600 participants.

The hands-down winner of the race was the “Scorpione dei Mari”, a Jongert-built vessel designed by Tony Castro that is based in Port Adriano.
