Ocibar wins the contract to manage the moorings on the north shore of the Port of Maó, becoming the only company offering marinas on three islands in the Balearic Archipelago

On April 30th 2009, the Balearic Port Authority granted Ocibar the concession to operate the moorings of the Ribera Norte (north shore) in the Port of Maó. This is a 14-year concession, covering a total of 460 berths and moorings.

Ocibar’s proposal was the most highly valued by the Balearic Port Authority’s technical committee, as it was rigorous, feasible and environmentally respectful of the surroundings. The project envisages fitting out the area and improving the moorings and jetties, along with the implementation of a free boat shuttle service to connect the floating platforms and “the other side” with the city.

Last July, Ocibar opened an information and reservation office at Muelle de Levante 247 (pier) in Maó. Under the management of Director Anna Pasquina, this centre will be handling all mooring rentals and similar applications and requests.

The Director of Ocibar, Isabel Teruel, asserted that the project “will contribute to improving the northern enclave in the Port of Maó, and will appropriately meet users’ expectations”.

Thanks to this concession, Ocibar is now the only company that can offer mooring solutions for its clients on three islands in the Balearic Archipelago: Mallorca (www.portadriano.com), Eivissa (www.ibizamagna.com) and Menorca.

The last of the caissons for Port Adriano’s breakwater has arrived

The last of the 26 caissons that make up Port Adriano’s new breakwater arrived by sea from Castellón on 29 May.

All of the caissons are now in place, and the construction of the breakwater is in its final phase. The blocks that once formed the old jetty have been completely removed, leaving the esplanade clear for the construction of the new commercial area.

This is what the new Port Adriano will be like

When the expansion work is complete in the spring of 2010, Port Adriano will become one of the Mediterranean’s leading marinas for large vessels.

The expansion of Port Adriano entails the addition of 82 new moorings for vessels between 20 and 60 metres long, with a surface area of over 25,000 m². The port’s future facilities include 670 new parking spaces, 10,000 m² of technical space, a docking and launching ramp for small vessels, 4,000 m² of commercial space and a 1,800-m² area for customer services facilities.
